Tyler, The Creator - Cherry Bomb

Disliked by many fans, certainly so if you look on review sites like Rate Your Music, Cherry Bomb is fun, loud, and crazy. On this record, Tyler experiments with different styles and sounds which come together to make somewhat of a mixed bag of an album. Speaking of mixing, on most tracks it's muddy and disappointing. I happen to like the rougher production on some of the tracks, but you will often find it to either be ‘too much’ or ‘too little’. Despite the criticism, I can't help but feel it is a good transition from the dark, gritty sound towards the start of his discography (and the start of the album) to a newer, brighter, and cleaner sound. This ends up being a fun, upbeat, chaotic, and enjoyable listen, where Tyler starts to include the themes and ideas which he would later delve into on Flower Boy. Don't expect a masterpiece, but don't expect to be disappointed either.
