Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT
I just wanna say this album blew me out of the water. I mean it was just amazing, seriously. I personally found the opening track a little slow and uninteresting both lyrically and musically.
However, from that opening track it only gets better and better. Each track provides a meaningful insight into her emotions and shows how she has grown from the less mature ideas shown in her previous albums.
The album deals with topics such as romance, lust, fame and depression, with anecdotes and stories from her lived experiences. The album is also interesting sonically, with amazing instrumentation, and great production by her older brother, Finneas O'Connell, who had worker with her in the past, most notably on her 2019 album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO.
This, paired with her soft and elegant voice creates an excellent listening experience, and is a breath of fresh air among the endless samey pop albums of recent years.
Lunch is easily the most interesting and unique track on the album, and really benefits from that, as a catchy pop rock song which feels refreshig and interesting, especially in comparison to the other songs.
I considered giving the album a ten, however I found some tracks to be a little repetitive, and a few uninteresting ideas on the slower songs.
